The 2008-09 Squad

Player Manager - Aaron Bowes-Shorten

Following the passing of former manager Julie Bowes-Shorten, Aaron has attempted to fill her shoes. After helping the team to retain Division 1 status in his opening season, hopes are high that further progression can be made in 2008/09. This has been re-enforced with the recruitment of Adam Jarrett and Graeme Beard as coaches, resulting in some very rewarding pre-season training sessions.

Tim Hales - Goalkeeper : Signed 2005. Very unfortunate to have suffered a knee injury in the pre-season of 2007/2008 but is now fully fit and looking forward to a successful 09/10 season between the sticks.

Dave Lewis - Goalkeeper : Signed 2007. It's no coincidence that the moment Dave signed for Wensum, the results started to improve. His agility and quick reactions have demonstrated exactly why his signature to the club has been crucial. Definitely one to watch this season.

Lee Farrow - Defender : Signed 2007. The pocket dynamo of the team. A vocal and passionate defender who can pass with accuracy and often gets on the scoresheet too.

Jut Philo - Defender : Signed 2004. One of the teams most consistent players. His awareness and reading of the game has developed immensely through his experience as a quality and dependable centre-back.

Chris Dann - Defender : Signed 2005. Another consistent player who can play anywhere in the back four, however his partnership with Jut Philo as centre-back has proved to be a formidable pairing.

Ben Carter - Defender : Signed 2001. A reliable and unfaltering player, who times his tackles to perfection. Ever present and ever dependable.

Stephane Dunbar - Defender : Signed 2004. Can play in defence & midfield, although of late been filling the left back role. His enthusiasm, tenacity and energy are second to none.

Dave Holmes - Defender : Signed 2004. Another versatile player who has suffered more than his fair share of injury in recent years. Predominantly a stalwart centre-back, he can also be used at full-back, centre midfield and even in goal.

Stuart Jarrett - Defender/Midfielder : Signed 2001. After switching from his initial position as a wide player, he has demonstrated his defensive qualities time after time. The type of player every team needs, he can be play in a variety of positions comfortably and without protest.

Andy Rochford - Midfielder : Signed 2001. Captain. His aerial dominance and tough-tackling presence means he is an elemental figure on the pitch. As Captain he often attempts to inspire the team with motivational sayings, "It's all they've got !" being a firm favourite.

Micky Martin - Midfielder : Signed 2004 Vice-Captain. While playing centrally or out wide, he has contributed on a regular basis with goals. Ever present and dependable, he only misses games when he returns to his homeland.

Den Slowther - Defender/Midfielder : Signed 2004. Versatile midfielder who can tackle and pass with authority and precision. Has recently put in some good performances at centre-midfield. On the very rare occasions that he scores you can guarantee that the trombone will make an appearance.

Mark Leeper - Midfielder : Signed 2002. Another resourceful midfielder who can play either wing. One of the best dead ball kickers in the squad who will appear on the scoresheet a couple of times a month.

Pete Gorbould - Midfielder : Signed 2004. A tenacious player who will not give up on any ball. His pace is a real asset, which he can use as a wide man, or just recently as a forward.

Dan Twite - Defender/Midfielder/Striker : Signed 2000. Having recently been converted (from attack to defence), his performances have impressed. Although not available on a week by week basis, a very handy player to be able to bring to a game.

Graeme Beard - Striker : Signed 2005. After a season's absence from Wensum Albion, he just couldn't keep away and is currently enjoying his 3rd year with the club. Prolific at all levels, expect this player to be in the running for the golden boot come the end of the season.

Adam Jarrett - Striker : Signed 2007. Much of his first season was dogged by injury and complaints, so he has only shown in glimpses what he is fully capable of doing. Another player who can count on his pace to cause the opposition problems, he also has the ability to put the ball in the back of the net. If he can avoid injury this term, he too will be pushing for the golden boot.
